Elizabeth Gowan, M.Ed., B.Ed., CTDP, OCT

Hello, and welcome to clarifesto! My name is Elizabeth, and I’m a professional facilitator and educator. I have had the privilege of helping learners write and speak effectively since 2000. Over the course of my career, I have worked in both academic and corporate contexts, and I currently straddle the two worlds as a Communications Professor at George Brown College and a freelance corporate trainer.

A self-professed grammar nerd and plain-language enthusiast, I love exploring how clear writing improves accessibility. In 2021, I was honoured to co-present on this topic at the Centre for Applied Special Technology (CAST) annual conference. Accessibility is also at the centre of much of the training I do on writing skills. One of the organizations I work with most is WordTask Information Strategies - they are superb!

Finally, as a former Special Education teacher and current Universal Design for Learning (UDL) champion at George Brown College, I specialize in helping people learn how to learn. Much of this process involves supporting neurodiverse learners in valuing their own progress and resources so they can create the outcomes they want for themselves.

If you’d like to find out more about how we can work together, please check out my services and contact me.
